Our Chief Executive Officer, Julie Moyer, is a licensed real estate agent in Nevada and a remarkably accomplished entrepreneur. Overcoming significant challenges associated with homelessness and addiction, Julie has distinguished herself as a notable real estate investor.
Concerned by the growing number of individuals facing homelessness and the severe conditions they endure in Las Vegas, she has committed herself to driving positive change within the community.
Moreover, Ron Reyes, our Vice President of Operations, has similarly overcome personal adversities, including homelessness and addiction. Reared on a ranch in New Mexico, he possesses a wealth of ranching knowledge and is well-prepared to share these skills with homeless individuals at our ranch-style educational facility. His vision includes establishing a program dedicated to rescuing animals—particularly dogs—with the aim of fostering meaningful connections between them and the homeless population.
Additionally, our Chief Operating Officer, Jamie George, is a licensed professional who works extensively with Native Americans in Northern California. He has also triumphed over homelessness and addiction, and he is enthusiastic about contributing to our initiative. Jamie will concentrate on construction projects in Northern California while developing a comprehensive program and guidelines to address the recovery needs of individuals struggling with addiction and mental health challenges.
Our mission is to establish sustainable homesteads for individuals and cultivate community-oriented homestead initiatives that promote resource sharing. We aim to assist individuals in Nevada and other regions who are facing significant challenges, including those living in vehicles due to economic hardship or retirees residing in recreational vehicles. With your support, we have the opportunity to transform aspirations into tangible outcomes.
Fully sustainable off-grid living ensures self-reliance and has the potential to disrupt the cycle of homelessness for generations. Our Vice President of Operations, Ron Reyes, envisions the establishment of a dog rescue initiative aimed at mutual healing and support between dogs and individuals experiencing homelessness. This project seeks to provide both comfort and companionship, facilitating a transformative experience for all involved.
Our gardens transcend mere nourishment; they emerge as vibrant hubs of connection and self-discovery. The Homestead community is a groundbreaking vision, meticulously crafted to weave together homesteaders into a dynamic tapestry of support and resource sharing, effectively addressing our collective aspirations. We delve into the artistry of gardening, exploring indoor and outdoor environments across diverse climates and seasons, continually honing our skills and techniques. Additionally, we envision an innovative aquatic farm, not only fostering a healthy lifestyle but also opening avenues for income potential. Here, nature and community intertwine, pushing the boundaries of what it means to cultivate both our crops and our connections.
We are pleased to introduce a transformative training program designed to unlock potential and equip individuals with essential skills for independence and self-sufficiency. This ranch-style educational initiative focuses on imparting vital competencies such as livestock care—including chickens, ducks, and goats—gardening, hunting, construction, and sustainable off-grid living techniques. It is dedicated exclusively to the principles of homesteading, providing an opportunity for individuals experiencing homelessness to pursue their aspirations of self-reliance.
We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to join this important endeavor. Your expertise is invaluable as we strive to expand training opportunities within our dynamic community. Together, we can cultivate crucial knowledge and skills that empower us all. The opportunity for action is limited; we encourage you to seize this moment to contribute to a sustainable and promising future. Your involvement is not merely encouraged; it is essential.
Homeless to Homesteader represents an innovative approach that transcends conventional social services. As a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are resolutely dedicated to the elimination of homelessness through the provision of sustainable, off-grid housing solutions. Our initiative emphasizes practicality and a return to nature, with the objective of establishing self-sufficient homesteads for individuals and families.
Our primary goal is the creation of 200 homesteads within integrated homestead communities, necessitating an estimated funding of over $10 million to facilitate the resettlement of displaced individuals. Additionally, we aim to establish a ranch-style educational facility, requiring initial funding of $1 million, along with a minimum annual operational budget of $60,000, primarily sourced through grants and donations.
Our devoted team is motivated by a deep commitment to empower the vulnerable, providing them with essential resources to secure a sustainable and promising future.
We strive to assist those who wish to pursue off-grid living but find themselves ensnared in the cycle of homelessness and despair.
Our mission extends beyond mere temporary relief; we are committed to delivering long-term support to ensure that these individuals can attain self-sufficiency and dignity in their lives.
Each homesteader will receive essential structures to support their agricultural efforts, including a greenhouse, barn, livestock facilities, and a chicken coop with chickens. Additionally, the design and development of each homestead and community will be tailored to suit the specific environmental conditions and needs of the area.
